The Magic of Sessionboard: Happy Speakers Make a Happy Conference

January 23, 2024 By ACES Staff ACES News

Like any good editor, ACES: The Society for Editing also always looks to improve its work systems and processes. These updates help ACES to better serve its members and the greater editing community.

Nowhere are good tools more important to the Society than the two ACES annual conferences, in-person and virtual.

So when Kristin Shoop, the ACES events and professional development manager, used Sessionboard to organize last September’s VCON23 speakers and their sessions, she was so thrilled about it that she gave the company a testimonial.

Sessionboard, a new speaker and content management platform, returned the compliment by featuring her enthusiasm in a recent company blog post, How This Tight-Knit Association Saved 177 Organizer Hours Managing 59 Speakers

“It’s fantastic!” Kristin said recently. “Not only for the process but also where I communicate with speakers. I get their resources, their proposals, their bios, their headshots. I communicate directly with them. It’s a very robust platform for people who are submitting. And early reviews from the speakers are very positive.”

Because of the time saved with Sessionboard, Kristin can focus on putting together an even more exciting conference for attendees. More than 100 session proposals were submitted, and 50 have been scheduled, with 75 speakers. The topics are all organized under tracks and by level so it’s easy to pick out the best schedule for each attendee. Read more about the session selection process

As a result, registration for ACES 2024 San Diego: Unleashing Creativity is well underway. Conference speakers and their sessions and session tracks have all been posted on Conference Central. This year there's a new First-timers reception, and the ACES Education Fund is hosting its ever-popular Spelling Bee and Silent Auction — and more events to be announced.
