Description:

I’m a copyeditor and licensed psychologist with extensive experience in mental health, education, and assessment. As a psychologist, I initially worked in a counseling center, assessing and treating individuals with a wide range of mental health and learning challenges. I then served as the director of psychological services at a large K–12 independent school, addressing students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. In my work, I did a great deal of writing and editing and was given the informal title of in-house editor. This eventually led me to pursue a career in editing, and in 2013 I established my company, PsychEditing, to provide copyediting services to authors and publishers of psychological and educational materials, including professional and trade books, assessment instruments, journal articles, and training and other manuals. I find it extremely rewarding to combine my background knowledge and editing expertise to assist individuals and companies in developing publications of the highest quality—particularly those that improve the lives of adults and children.

I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University, master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology, and a certificate in editing from ACES/Poynter Institute.
