Owner-editor Leslie Castro Woodhouse is a seasoned editor with a background spanning both business and academia, including ten years of corporate marketing, another decade of coaching writers, and seven years of professional editing experience. Besides being a PhD herself (History, UC Berkeley, 2009), she’s formally trained in editing (Poynter-ACES), journalism (Mills College), and graphic design (CCA). Her thirty years in the world of work built a professional, no-nonsense foundation beneath her scholarly sensibility.
EXPERIENCE: With several published articles, book chapters, and a monograph to her credit, Leslie has first-hand experience with the challenges of being a scholarly writer. As a former journal editor, she also understands what publishers are looking for. She’s coached countless academic writers, many from linguistically-diverse backgrounds, guiding them through the conventions of scholarly writing and supporting them to the finish line. Leslie’s passion is helping scholars build the skills they need to express themselves confidently.
