Winner of the ACES Robinson Prize in 2017 for furthering the craft of professional editing, Karen Yin is the founder of Conscious Style Guide, a resource for inclusive, empowering, and respectful language, and AP vs. Chicago, an irreverent language blog for anyone who “gives a dollar sign, ampersand, exclamation point, and pound sign about style.” Karen has been the style columnist for Copyediting since 2014 and, as a speaker, has been invited to give talks on LGBTQ terminology, sexist language, racist language, and conscious editing. An independent writer and editor, Karen was the final eye on campaigns for Disney, Fox, Universal, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks for most of her decades-long career.
