Description:

I come to the editing community by first being the owner and executive director of the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography (CCLaP), an award-winning indie press active in the '00s and '10s. This makes me entirely self-taught (except for ACES classes), which allows me to approach the editing of fiction in a looser way more designed for readability than many academically trained editors can. I specialize in developmental editing of genre fiction, bringing a finely honed understanding of tropes and traditions to romance, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, YA and more. I also excel at character-driven human-interest stories, both the NPR/MFA type and its edgier and more experimental cousin, indie lit. I'm actively seeking opportunities with small presses and self-publishing authors who understand that sometimes an editor must IGNORE what the Chicago Manual of Style says in order to make a genre novel truly sing.
