Former daily newspaper reporter and copy editor, deputy press secretary for a U.S. Senator, public affairs officer for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's research office, and communications director for two non-profits. I founded Press Here in 2013 to focus on the things I loved - working with science and scientists, the media, and plain language. Vice-President of PLAIN (Plain Language Association International) and former volunteer at the reptile house of the National Zoo. Successfully completed the plain language certificate program at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, BC) in 2018. Love words and helping people use them better.
