Before the Chat

About 5-10 minutes before the scheduled starting time, set up an #ACESchat search in your Twitter feed (whether using the web, Tweetdeck, HootSuite, or some other app). Just type #ACESChat into the search field; and remember, it’s not case sensitive.

It’s best to let your other followers know that you’ll be participating in a chat for the next hour and that you might be bombarding them with a lot of tweets on our topic. If they aren’t interested in editing, they can tune you out for the next hour.

You can submit questions in advance to the chat moderator by sending a direct message to @aceseditors.

During the Chat

Introduce yourself to the group and tell how you’re involved in the field of editing.

Feel free to ask the guests questions that are on topic (without going through the moderator) and to comment on anything. Lurking is fine, too.

If responding to a specific question, indicate which one it was by using the question label (Q1, Q2, Q3, etc.).

During the chat, DM @aceseditors or send questions you’d like the moderator to pose to @aceseditors without the #ACESChat hashtag.

The only other rules—be a considerate tweeter (debate is welcome, but play nice) and stay on the topic of editing.

This is a great opportunity to network with editors from all over and to gain new Twitter followers. So speak up.
