Jill Campbell

Candidate - Board of Directors

Self-Nominated

Jill Campbell is a Boston-based copy editor and proofreader with 12+ years of experience across books, magazines, and digital media. She has been an ACES member since 2014.

How long has the nominee been a member of ACES?

I've been a member since 2014.

How has the nominee contributed to ACES?

I have hosted a webinar, written an article for Tracking Changes, participated in many an #ACESChat, and attended four conferences. I will be presenting a session at the 2023 conference.

What experience would the nominee bring to the board?

In 12 years as an editor, I have worked in a variety of media and in every type of employment — in-house and remote, full- and part-time, contractor and staff. I can identify with a broad range of editing experiences and understand the importance of versatility. I have also been an advocate for conscious language in my workplaces, taking a leading role in keeping up with ongoing language changes. I knew few other editors until I joined ACES and felt that I had found my people. I want to give back to this organization because it has so greatly improved my life.

If elected, what does the nominee envision for ACES during their tenure?

Considering the uncertain future of Twitter, which has been an immensely valuable place for ACES members and other editors to connect, I would love to see ACES increase its engagement on other social media platforms so that we can try to maintain that level of community.
