Deb Amlen

Deb Amlen kicks off our opening session on Wednesday, September 27 with the same energy and determination it takes to solve the most challenging crossword puzzle.

Deb is the lead columnist for The New York Times’ daily “Wordplay” column, where she entertains and challenges puzzle lovers from all over the world. She is very proud of the fact that most of her jokes have made it past the copy desk.

Her books, “It’s Not P.M.S., It’s You” and “Create Your Life Lists” can be found where all questionable literature is sold, and her other work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Onion/A.V. Club, The Huffington Post, The Establishment, BUST Magazine and David Pogue’s Yahoo Tech magazine, where she was a founding columnist.

Deb lives in New Jersey with her very patient partner.


R.L. Stine

ACES welcomes one of the best-selling children's authors in history, R.L. Stine, on Thursday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m. ET. His keynote session, "Ask Me Anything with R.L. Stine," will feature him responding to previously-submitted audience questions.

The Goosebumps series, which made R.L. Stine a worldwide publishing celebrity, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with more than 400 million books in print in 32 languages. His other popular children’s book series include Fear Street, (recently revived as a feature film trilogy), The Garbage Pail Kids, Mostly Ghostly, The Nightmare Room, and Rotten School.

The Goosebumps TV series, available on Netflix, was the number-one children's show in America for three years. More recently, the anthology TV series, R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour, won the Emmy Award three years in a row as Best Children's Show. His newest Disney+ TV series is Just Beyond, based on his graphic novels for BOOM! Studios. Two Goosebumps feature films starring Jack Black as R.L. Stine were released in 2015 and 2018. The first film became the #1 film in America. The Fear Street movies all reached #1 on Netflix.

Recognized as a trusted expert in healthy lifestyle practices, Julie regularly appears as the healthy lifestyle expert for Good Day Columbus and other local and national news stations. She has captivated audiences worldwide through her speeches and presentations at notable venues like the Tower of London, the White House, the US Chamber of Commerce, TED Talks, Solutions at Work Live, and various national health conferences.
