Who can attend?

VCON23: ACES 2023 Virtual Conference is the place for anyone who navigates the world of language and wishes to polish, refine, and accelerate their careers and skills. From editors and publishers to communication experts and associations, VCON23: ACES 2023 Virtual Conference gathers language aficionados and specialists from various backgrounds.

Why should I attend?

VCON23: ACES 2023 Virtual Conference connects editors, communication professionals, and language experts from around the globe who share a common goal: to improve the quality of the written word and the working lives of editors. ACES Accelerate is designed to guide attendees forward — in their careers, personal development, and editing proficiency.

Attendees will receive entrance to each day's virtual sessions and the keynote address, access to the conference mobile app, and the opportunity to register for field-specific Coffee Chats.

All attendees will have access to over 40 sessions. Sessions slides and presenter videos are pre-recorded to ensure accessibility and smooth access for all guests. Attendees must be present during the assigned session time slot to participate in the interactive speaker-led live chat and Q&A session.

The keynote address and Coffee Chats are live, conference-only events that will not be recorded or included in post-conference resources. Conference attendees will have access to the session recordings and handouts for a limited time after the conference.

How many sessions are there?

ACES: The Society for Editing is proud to bring over 40 sessions from expert presenters with endless experience and knowledge to share. Additionally, ACES is offering over 20 live Coffee Chats to allow for small groups to exchange thoughts and ideas.

Are there any discounts available?

ACES members, students, and members of affiliate organizations can register at discounted conference rates. For corporate or group discounts, please email: info@aceseditors.org.

Group discounts are offered for a group of 15 or more registrants from the same organization. All names must be provided at the time of registration and payment is due in full at the time of registration. Please contact info@aceseditors for more information.

Note: ACES membership must be current to receive the discount. Members of Editors Canada, the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), the Journalism and Women Symposium (JAWS) and the Society of News Design (SND) are eligible for the ACES member discount. Memberships may be purchased at the time of registration to receive the member rate. See more on ACES membership page. ACES reserves the right to change prices before the conference and ACES has the final say on membership eligibility and prices.

Will the sessions be recorded to view following the conference?

VCON23: ACES 2023 Virtual Conference will have access to session recordings and handouts for a limited time after the conference.

All attendees will have access to over 40 sessions. The majority of the educational sessions will be pre-recorded to ensure accessibility and smooth access for all registrants. All panel-based sessions will be live. Attendees must be present during the assigned session time slot to participate in the interactive speaker-led live chat and Q&A session following the presentation.

The keynote address, well-being session, and Coffee Chats are live, conference-only events that will not be recorded or included in post-conference resources. Conference attendees will have access to the educational session recordings, handouts, and chat transcripts for a limited time after the conference.

Can I just watch the session recordings?

Yes, all attendees will have access to session recordings and handouts for 30 days after the conference.

What are "coffee chats"?

Coffee Chats at VCON23 will be 30-minute, small group sessions scheduled between educational sessions each day of the conference. Each small group will have a total of 8 people including a Table Host.

The chats will focus on specific topics within the editing world and give participants a chance to share, connect and learn from one another. Coffee chats are included with registration and require sign-up at the time of registration. Seats are limited and are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Coffee chats may not be added once your registration is complete.

How Can I Register Others to Attend VCON 2023?

Two buttons will be displayed at the bottom of the first registration page.

  • Register Yourself - click this button and complete your registration.
  • Register Guest - click on this button if you would like to register a Nonmember. If you use this button, it will not link to another member's profile or receive the member rate.

If you are the Key Contact for your organization, a third button will be displayed at the bottom of the first registration page.

  • Register Linked Member - click if you are the key contact for your organization and you would like to register an ACES member who would receive the member rate. (If you are not the key contact, ask the member to log into their ACES account to register.)
