How long has the nominee been a member of ACES?

11 years

How has the nominee contributed to ACES?

My passion in my seven years on the ACES board is aligned with our strategic initiative for training. I've shaped the session lineups at conferences, led in-person trainings, and hosted live webinars to provide more first-class opportunities for members to learn and grow.

What experience would the nominee bring to the board?

As a candidate for treasurer, I'm bringing my experience managing finances for my own business. I've reviewed ACES budgets, investments, and financial reporting as a board member since 2016. Like many of you, I also have a keen eye for detail :)

If elected, what does the nominee envision for ACES during their tenure?

I'm most passionate about reviving ACES' decade-old research on the importance of editing to readers. As part of the project, I want to make the research easily replicable so members can always have access to updated data in the future. The research should focus on editing's — and editors' — impact across the digital platforms and printed media that represent the types of work ACES members do. This kind of research can have a profound effect on the way editors are able to demonstrate their value to employers and clients.

What is one thing about ACES that you would like to improve, and what ideas do you have on how to improve it?

I'm excited for the continued expansion of training opportunities and resources that can help you be a more confident and successful editor. That vision is enabled by the ways we wisely spend and invest our organization's financial resources. As treasurer, I would be a responsible steward of ACES funds.
