Present at ACES 2027: Puerto Rico
ACES is looking for speakers — both editors and experts from related fields — who can inspire attendees to expand their skills, broaden their perspectives, and learn about the latest trends and insights on editing.
An ACES conference hosts hundreds of dedicated editors with backgrounds in editing, publishing, communications, education, government, nonprofits, and more. People return to our conferences every year because they want to hear and learn from our broad range of session speakers.
ACES session presenters are fundamental to an ACES conference experience. Consider becoming one of those speakers by proposing a session for ACES 2027: Puerto Rico.

Thinking about proposing? Follow these tips:
Who should propose a session?
Speakers at all levels in their speaking journey are welcome to submit a session proposal. Consider presenting at least once prior to submitting so you know whether presenting is for you.
What should the proposal say?
Be clear about what information you’d like to share, how it relates to editing, and why an editor would want to benefit from this information. Be intentional about how you structure the session, the material you present, and the resources you provide.
Write the learning objectives with an employer’s perspective in mind. Show why this session is worth their investment of time and cost. Clearly outline the key takeaways and include any resources you plan to share. Keep your description concise and focused.
Decide the skill level:
- Introductory
- Intermediate
- Advanced
Decide the category for your session:
Words and Language
Core Editing Skills
Business of Editing
Soft Skills for Editors
Read the Session Submission Guide for definitions of each category and skill level. Attendees will choose sessions based on their own assessment of skill level, so ensure your content matches the level you’ve selected.
Benefits of submitting a proposal
- If your session is accepted, you’ll gain practice in presenting and reinforce your knowledge and skills.
- It’s a way to network and get known among your editing peers.
- It’s fun. The audience is friendly and eager to learn.
- Being of service is good for you and good for the editing community.
- Presenters receive half off the conference registration fee.

Please plan accordingly. Selected speakers must be available to attend ACES 2027: Puerto Rico in person from April 26–29, 2027. Speakers are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel and hotel accommodations. When submitting your proposal, please consider the time and costs associated with attending the conference.
Hotel and travel information
Conference hotel information, including the hotel reservation link, are available on the ACES 2027: Puerto Rico webpage. Speakers are encouraged to make hotel and travel plans early.
The early-bird conference registration rate is currently $475 for members and $675 for non-members. Please review the rates and hotel information before submitting your proposal to ensure you are able to make the necessary arrangements if selected.
Submitting a proposal
You’ll be asked for a session title, description, and learning objectives, as well as a short bio, a headshot, and contact information. You’ll also choose your track, level, and presentation format.
Before submitting a proposal, first review the Session Submission Guide, also available in the submission form. It provides guidance about who the audience is, what levels are directed at which type of editor, and more.
What if my proposal is not accepted?
Don’t be discouraged if your proposal isn’t selected this time. A decision not to include a session doesn’t always reflect its quality — sometimes a topic was recently presented, or several people proposed a similar idea. Your session might be a perfect fit for a virtual conference, a webcast, or a future event. Often, there are simply more great proposals than space in the schedule. We encourage you to refine your idea and resubmit it in the future — your perspective and expertise are valued.
