Executive Director
Gigi Sutton is the executive director of ACES and resides in the Chicagoland area. With many years of experience managing various trade and professional associations throughout her career, Gigi is actively involved with organizations such as ASAE and the Association Forum Chicago. She is also the president of the Gilberts Town Center Homeowners Association. When she's not working or volunteering, Gigi enjoys reading, cooking, and especially traveling with her husband and daughter.

Professional Development Manager
Maria Coxwell is a certified meeting professional with more than 15 years of experience in event planning and program management. She specializes in creating impactful learning experiences, both in person and virtually, and enjoys collaborating with volunteer committees and subject matter experts to develop content that is timely, relevant, and engaging.
Passionate about professional development, she is committed to helping individuals achieve their goals through high-quality learning opportunities. Maria holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Georgia State University and lives in upstate South Carolina with her husband and two dogs.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and relaxing with a good book. She is currently working on visiting all of the U.S. national parks.

Editor/Membership Coordinator
Christine Steele is the Editor of ACES. She has more than 25 years of experience in editing and writing, 12 of them in financial services. She’s launched 100+-page corporate style guides and edited books on nonfiction, historical fiction, retirement, and sculptor art. She has also freelanced as Steele Editing & Writing. Additionally, she is a co-lead instructor of UC San Diego Extended Studies’ copyediting certificate program.
A lifetime member of ACES, Christine served the Board of Directors for eight years, including as an executive committee member, director of membership, and member of the publicity committee. She has spoken at several ACES conferences on financial copy editing, getting into teaching, and careers for copy editors.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, a combined certificate in print/broadcast journalism from UCLA Extension, a certificate in teaching online from UC San Diego Extended Studies, a certificate in critical thinking from Cornell University, and the Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing. She is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and the San Diego Professional Editors Network (SD/PEN).
Christine is known for sharing her passion for words and loves the ampersand. She encourages others to have fun with copyediting and often receives photos of typos to add to her gallery of errors. She lives in the Los Angeles area, and like many editors, she loves cats and has two of her own.
