Conference attendees are seeking innovative content and learning opportunities that reflect current challenges, solutions, concepts, and trends in the editing industry.
Strong proposals often:

ACES welcomes proposals from editors with different perspectives, specialties, and career experiences.
Topic areas
As you plan your proposal, consider one of the conference’s primary topic areas.
- Words and language -Â Language trends, inclusiveness, voice and tone, jargon, cross-cultural language use, plain language, lexicography, bias and sensitivity, and styles.
- Core editing skills -Â Grammar, syntax, fact-checking, research, editing techniques, and editing tools.
- Business of editing -Â Freelancing, project management, client communication, marketing, networking, boundaries, and business operations.
- Soft skills for editors -Â Leadership, collaboration, professionalism, empathy, communication, adaptability, critical thinking, and time management.
Knowledge levels
Sessions are organized into three experience levels.
- Introductory -Â For editors beginning their careers or entering the profession.
- Intermediate -Â For mid-career editors building deeper expertise.
- Advanced - For experienced editors, senior professionals, and seasoned consultants.
Submission guidelines
- All proposals must be submitted through the online form.
- Speakers can submit up to two proposals.
- Sessions should avoid commercial or promotional bias.
- Proposals should include:
- A clear session title
- A concise, outcome-focused description
- Three action-oriented learning objectives

- Call for sessions opens: May 27, 2026
- Submission deadline: Monday, June 29, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET
- Selection notifications: Late July 2026
- Session acceptance deadline: Within five business days of notification
