ACES 2022 Accelerate
September 21–22, 2022 · Virtual conference
ACES Accelerate was the 2022 online conference of ACES: The Society for Editing. Its theme was a nod to moving toward new possibilities, and it was designed to help editors move forward in their careers, personal development, and editing proficiency.
About the conference
ACES Accelerate was a two-day virtual conference held September 21–22, 2022. It connected editors, communication professionals, and language experts from around the world.
The program offered 41 sessions at introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels, plus sessions for editors at any career stage. Sessions were prerecorded and followed by a live chat and Q&A with the speakers.
Coffee Chats made their debut at this conference. These 30-minute small-group discussions brought together editors in freelance, academic, print and digital, corporate, and management roles.
Keynote speaker

Jenny Lawson, New York Times bestselling author and creator of The Bloggess, delivered the keynote on September 22, returning to the ACES stage virtually.
Her session at ACES Emerge earlier in 2022 inspired an impromptu live auction of her book Broken, which raised over $500 for the ACES Education Fund.
Lawson is an award-winning humorist known for her candor about her struggle with mental illness. Her books Let’s Pretend This Never Happened and Furiously Happy were both #1 New York Times bestsellers.
