Steve Cope is an experienced journalist with a long career in multi-platform news coverage, presentation and content creation. Most recently, he directed  the Lakana (Internet Broadcasting) news and copy editing services to support local websites of several major broadcast clients. He served as champion of best practices for client websites, helping improve their news content, breaking news coverage, site display, brand promotion, social media integration, pageviews and visits, and newsroom workflow.  He directed local site producers  for NBC, Hearst, Cox, Meredith, Graham (Post-Newsweek), McGraw Hill, Morgan Murphy and others.  Steve is a graduated of the University of Texas at Austin School of Communications and began his career as a reporter and anchor in Austin radio and television, moving on to TV stations in Dallas and Houston before assuming the direction of the Conus satellite news feed in St. Paul, Minnesota. He began his digital journalism career at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis as part of an RTNDA-backed project to enhance website coverage of the 2002 elections.  He's married to a retired science teacher and has two sons -- one living in the Twin Cities, the other in Cardiff, Wales. Steve believes that in providing a common understanding of information, journalism makes possible healthy community, democratic government and social progress.
