Samaruddin “Sam” Stewart is an independent journalist and media technologist based in California. He is also a recent program manager for the SPJ Training Program in partnership with the Google News Initiative. Prior, he was awarded a Knight Foundation Prototype Grant for his innovative work in technical verification of visual content, a Stanford University John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship researching countering misinformation, and named a US Department of State Franklin Fellow focusing on media strategy.
