Vera is seeking the services of a qualified editorial professional with experience creating style guides to perform an audit to and update of the organization’s style guide, which outlines style and usage standards to staff and partners.
Services may include, but are not limited to:
-Conducting competitor market research, including a comprehensive audit and analysis of Vera’s existing style guide, and identifying areas in need of update;
-Updating Vera’s style guide to reflect contemporary developments in style and usage, with particular attention to conscious language conventions and citation formatting;
-Researching and determining appropriate terminology around race, identity, and other sensitive issues;
-Updating and codifying citation guidelines in accordance with Vera’s specific needs and the Chicago Manual of Style;
-Collaborating with internal stakeholders, including communications; executive; and Race, Equity, and Inclusion (REI) staff, as appropriate;
-Working with Vera staff through the production process, including multiple rounds of editing and revisions;
-Providing regular reports about strategies, goals, processes, and project updates;
-Corresponding as needed to answer substantive and process questions;
-Attending meetings relating to the project, as requested; and
-Delivering a clean and error-free manuscript.
These services may be provided on an as-needed basis to Vera by agreement described in specific task orders and based on the terms set forth in a master agreement with Vera. Please note that execution of a master agreement would not guarantee any minimum amount of work.
