Spanish Proofreader Editor – Adecco

Description:

Adecco Creative is assisting our client, a private nonprofit educational testing and assessment organization in their search for a contract Spanish Editor / Proofreader, 40 hours/week, onsite.

Duration: 3-4 months + contract- very likely extensions

Editor/proofreader will be responsible for correcting copy using in-house style guides to produce error-free work. Editor will review text to ensure that all text is error free. Some flexibility to work OT either during the weekdays or during weekends may be required.

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive editing, consultation, and resource services for test items and test-related materials.
- Identify and correct grammar, punctuation, style, and usage errors in all materials assigned.
- Ensure consistency of style, accuracy of content, and deliver the highest overall editorial quality.
- Act as the primary resource for assessment specialists and other staff on matters of grammar, style, syntax, content, and fairness.
- Organize, track, and schedule workload to meet delivery dates and budget requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional grammar and editing skills: thorough knowledge of current standards of English grammar, usage, and research methods--including Internet searches.
- Ability to work independently in a highly focused manner and remain engaged.
- Ability to work comfortably with complex and difficult testing materials.
- Ability to adapt readily and successfully to changes in the work environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills. Well-developed communications skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain a high level of productivity and to work with ease under deadline pressure.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite.

A Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a closely related field is required.

3 to 5 years of editorial experience is preferred.

Ability to read and edit in Spanish is required.

Deep familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed., highly desirable.
