TechTarget is seeking an experienced site editor who will be responsible for managing and maintaining SearchBusinessAnalytics.com and SearchDataManagement.com. These sites provide news, trends and buying advice for business application users as well as technical advice for IT professionals. The site editor is responsible for the successful day-to-day operations of the sites, with the goal of making each one an essential source of information in the data analytics and data management software markets.
The site editor will participate in the development of content packages and position this content so it can be found in online searches based on an understanding of readers' interests and needs. The site editor will also oversee several freelance contributors and must coordinate with other members of the editorial team. Duties involve assigning original material to freelancers, calendaring and budgeting, applying SEO best practices to all content, and managing social media engagement for the sites. The site editor must also stay current on the technologies and trends in these markets by regularly connecting with industry experts and vendors in the markets.
Essential job functions:
Assist in developing market leadership of each site;
Assist in developing and maintaining the editorial calendar;
Recruit and manage freelance writers;
Assign and edit original material;
Write online content;
Report and track content in development and post-live;
Manage site budgets;
Develop content ideas;
Apply SEO to content to expand site traffic;
Meet with industry experts and vendors each month to stay current on markets;
Attend local and national conferences and events; and
Support new products as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Five years of experience writing and/or editing;
Demonstrated publishing knowledge with an understanding of journalism ethics;
Experience managing an editorial calendar and budget;
Demonstrable success editing technical content;
Strong writing, editing and verbal skills;
Experience conducting interviews;
