Working primarily in the Publications Unit of the Research Division, the senior editorial and publications specialist edits, develops strategies for, and helps produce a variety of print and electronic publications for use by legislators and the public. Projects include policy reports, brochures, guidebooks, speeches, technical documents, handouts, instructional materials, and more. The specialist also writes and updates content for publications relating to the Nevada Legislature and the legislative process, and conducts research and creates additional content concerning policy issues and technical matters as requested. In addition to taking a lead role in content editing, the specialist provides editing support at all stages of the document production process, including copy editing and proofreading. The specialist also acts as a resource for skill development in writing and editing within the Division, including providing training and mentorship upon request. As needed, the specialist may provide staff support to policy committees of the Legislature during legislative sessions and/or complete other research and policy analysis tasks at the request of legislators, legislative committees, other government officials, and the public. All work is performed on a professional, nonpartisan basis.
