Senior Editor and Content Writer – Vinson & Elkins

The Senior Editor and Content Writer works with the Chief Communications Officer and Senior Digital Marketing Manager to lead an editorial function within the Firm. They liaise with key stakeholders to help develop the editorial service offering, raise awareness of the function and create demand. Guided by the Firm’s communications strategy, they will work with partners to develop communications that showcase the Firm’s and its lawyers’ expertise and plays a lead role in shaping editorial strategy and processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Carry out research to understand awareness and perceptions of editorial services within the Firm (desk research and interviews with stakeholders, e.g. communications team, PSLs, PDMs, partners)
• Work with the Global Marketing Communications Director to develop the service offered by the editorial function in line with stakeholder needs
• Develop editorial policies and procedures to define the Firm’s editorial quality standards and ensure they are met
• Develop systems to improve efficiency, and ensure the balance of editorial output supports the priorities of the Firm
• Develop best practice guidelines and other training materials
• Work with the Marketing Communications Director and Managers, PDMs, PSLs and partners to develop compelling content ideas
• Write and edit articles and other thought leadership materials, working with partners and business development teams
• Re-write/re-purpose content from a variety of sources to demonstrate how/ensure it can be used in multiple channels for maximum impact
• Provide day-to-day editorial support to partners by advising on structure, reviewing and copy-editing text and ensuring technical material is accessible to a non-expert legal audience
• Provide advice to internal teams on effective writing and editorial matters
