SENIOR COORDINATOR AND EDITOR
Salary Range: $48,900 - $62,250 /year
The University Communications Strategy department establishes and guides communications content focused on advancing UC San Diego’s reputation of prestige and distinction as a leading global research university and academic medical center. UC San Diego Communication Strategists bring bold thinking and curiosity to lead the design and execution of nimble and data-driven content and print, digital and visual assets that accelerate achievement of the university’s short- and long-term strategic and operational objectives.
Under general supervision of the Assistant Director and Editorial Director, the position coordinates a variety of communications strategy projects - print, digital, web, and video - and provides editorial support. Adjusts project management approach to a range of coordination needs comprising estimating costs; scheduling; monitoring progress, timeline, and budget; client and vendor relations; internal communication; problem solving; and maintaining records. Works with staff in project teams that include a combination of graphic designers, web developers, video producers and strategists for marketing and social media. Manages printing from estimating through delivery. Copyedits and proofreads print, web, and graphic content according to prescribed editorial style and standards (primarily "AP Stylebook" or "The Chicago Manual of Style").

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with minimum of three years of production coordination and/or editorial experience in a publication, marketing, higher education, or related organization.
• Working knowledge of marketing principles.
• Strong skills in originating and maintaining databases for desktop publishing and image storage.
