Description:

Farcounty Press, an independent, family-owned book publisher in Helena, Montana is seeking a highly motivated and organized Production Director to join our team. This person will play a key leadership role in the company directing a current staff of two designers and one editor, plus all freelancers, ensuring quality control on projects.
This is a full-time, in house position. The wage range is dependent upon experience. A full benefits package is available including health, dental and vision coverage; paid vacation, sick leave, and 401K.

An efficient multi-tasker, capable of shifting seamlessly between priorities and tasks

Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Bachelors degree
Passion and knowledge of books and book mechanics including design, production, editorial, print manufacturing, freight and customs.
Proven customer service
Can see the big picture
Highly proficient problem-solving skills
Ability to develop accurate costs, budgets, and timelines for a variety of publications in many formats.
Works well with a variety of personalities
A strong written and verbal communicator
Ability to delegate effectively
Decisive
A sense of humor

Responsibilities:
Lead, direct, and oversee the production and design of Farcountry and Sweetgrass projects from conception to end product
Delegating project tasks to employees best positioned to complete them
Provide art direction on covers and layouts (preferred)
Communicate with Publisher to keep projects aligned with goals
Create schedules and adjust as needed
Lead Sweetgrass Books, communicate with customers in regards to pricing, contracts, project management from inception through the printing and shipping product while keeping projects on time and within budget.
Manage work flow and consider new projects as needed
Manage reprints with Publisher
Maintain book history
Apply for copyrights
Ebook production
Actively represent company at conferences
