Remote (but should be located in OR or WA)
VoiceCatcher is an online, volunteer-run journal that supports, inspires, and empowers women writers and artists in the greater Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA, areas. Volunteering with VoiceCatcher is an excellent way to get into the world of journal publishing and to connect with local OR and WA writing communities.
We are currently seeking a President for the journal and to oversee the board of directors.
The President shall be the chief officer of the corporation and shall act as the Chair of the Board. The President shall have any other powers and duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors.
The president shall have overall responsibility for
-Scheduling, setting the agenda for, and guiding board meetings
-Addressing and implementing high-level concerns and ideas, such as the direction of the journal, our demographic and geographic service area, appropriate and inclusive language, etc.
-Recruiting for board roles and ensuring all roles are supported
-Establishing submissions windows, publications timelines, and pub dates for each issue of the journal in conjunction with managing editors
-Ensuring journal accounts (e.g., GoDaddy and WordPress, Submittable, etc.) are active
-Managing and overseeing the creation and updates of process documents (e.g., the handbook, a style guide, guides for social media, events, and editorial)
For questions or to apply, please email the current president, Alison Cantrell, at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more info on the role and other open volunteer positions, visit http://voicecatcher.org/voicecatcher-volunteers-needed/.
