The Academic Times covers science and scholarship, focusing on groundbreaking discoveries, inventions and ideas. We have recruited reporters who excel at turning complex issues into readable, engaging stories, and now we need editors who can make their copy shine.
As a news editor at The Academic Times, you will work from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, editing short news articles and features by our team of reporters to guarantee that only engaging, error-free articles make it out into the world.
We are extremely selective. There’s no beating around the bush: our editors have to be smart. They have to be curious, have an uncanny knack for grammar, syntax and AP style, show an obsessive attention to detail, and craft headlines that readers find exciting and interesting.
We are a well-funded startup with ambitious growth plans. Although we're based in New York, we are looking for people who are able to work remotely even after the pandemic is declared done. Yes, you can work from home. And yes, you'll get health insurance and other great benefits and plenty of time off.
To be considered for the news editor job, you'll need to take a test. You'll be able to pick a three-hour window of time to take the test. Our recruiting coordinator will work with you, within reason, to find a time that's convenient to you.
