The Managing Editor is responsible for monitoring the Scholar One manuscript submission program for the Society of Modeling and Simulation publications. Managing Editor must become an expert in the use of the program to ensure that the peer-review process runs smoothly. This involves checking papers into Scholar One, helping authors, editors and reviewers with problems and questions regarding the Scholar One program and peer review system. They help with checking for papers to be original - not published before. The Managing Editor submits papers to Sage Publications and works with them to prepare the final issue by reviewing the draft of the journals and approving the final layout.
The Managing Editor works with the Sage Publications editors to determine which papers go into issue and gives approval after the issue is ready for press.
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Publication knowledge
• Two or more years of experience in journalism, communications or publication content management
The position is 100% work from home, irrespective of COVID-19 or any related restrictions. As such, any applicant must be able to produce their best work from their home setting. SCS can provide a laptop computer if needed; internet access is the responsibility of the employee.
Possible travel to in-person industry trade shows (when safe) and perhaps other educational conferences. Simulation Councils Inc. (SCS) policy requires an employee to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel.
Simulation Councils Inc. (SCS) pays its employees bi-weekly and offers competitive benefits, including two weeks of paid vacation, personal/sick days. Work hours range from 20-30 hrs. Per week. Pay is commensurate with experience.
