You must have a passion for all things pop culture. You must have an eye for biased language and the ability to clean up unprofessional, offensive and/or overly casual copy. You can also rewrite copy to remove sensitive terms or phrases while maintaining the original intent.
Ensure all content meets journalistic standards and best practices.
Primary responsibility will be to adhere copy to appropriate voice and tone.
Verify all content meets thorough brand safety guidelines.
Track progress and effectively communicate questions/concerns.
Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:
Minimum of 3 years copy editing experience required - not just proofreading.
Minimum of 3 years in digital media.
Well-versed in a variety of subjects and topic matter, including history, crime, pop culture, and entertainment.
Commitment to correcting inappropriate tone, editorialization, and bias.
Brand safety awareness.
Knowledge of SEO and keyword use preferred (just to recognize it).
The ability to work independently on a large-scale project.
Must be confident and self-possessed in communicating difficult issues.
Achieve high volume daily review goals and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
