Visiontime International is seeking to engage one or more freelance editors for galley proofing projects of short external communication type documents (brochures, circulars, country fact sheets, etc.), and longer publications (flagship reports, annual reports, thematic publications, etc.) The content is mostly geared toward international development (agriculture, ending hunger, climate change, gender issues, rural development, humanitarian crises, etc.), emanating from our network of specialized agencies of the United Nations that we serve. Galley proofing means different things to different people, so, to elaborate, in this context, it is the final stage of reviewing a formatted document before it is published, and assumes the document has been edited and revised, so therefore, no stylistic changes or sub-editing would be required. In most cases, each document comes with the specific house style of its originator to guide the reviewer. Typically, our galley proofing editors are assigned to one or two unique clients for consistency and ownership of the client’s editorial mandate.Candidates must be professional editors with at least ten years' experience and must have an unwavering attention to detail and hawk editorial eyes. Experience in international development and applied social sciences is desirable but not a requirement. The ability to work 100 percent remotely, professionalism, adherence to deadlines, and belief in our core values of making the world a better place through language is essential. Candidates must be able to use at a professional level and have access to the full version of Adobe Acrobat for editing and markup. While the volume of work is consistent and rewarding, this is a freelance position, and therefore no assurances of work regularity is made. Visiontime transforms the way governments and international organizations communicate for impact and change.
