Freelance Editor (Telecommute) – American Trade Magazines LLC




Leading national drycleaning services trade magazine is looking for a freelance editor to join its team immediately.

The ideal candidate will write and edit articles for American Drycleaner and; assist in production of monthly print publication; schedule and upload editorial content to publication’s website; create and produce a monthly podcast; and post regular updates to publication’s social media accounts. Position reports to Editorial Director.

Primary responsibilities include: editorial content development, including communicating with dry cleaners, manufacturers, distributors and trade associations; research, interview, write, edit and proof content; and source photography and artwork. Occasional travel will be required.

— Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
— At least five years experience as writer/reporter/editor (experience working for B2B or trade publication preferred)
— Excellent writing, copy editing and proofing skills
— Ability to coordinate multiple assignments or tasks simultaneously
— Proficient with Mac computers
— Proficient in use of MS Word, Google Docs, Dropbox and InDesign; comfortable making page layout changes
— Demonstrated ability to consistently produce high-quality work under deadline
— Strong attention to detail
— A knowledge of basic textile care is highly desired

Publishing company is based in Chicago. This is a telecommuting/remote position averaging 30-35 hours a week (part-time).
