Ideas on Fire is looking for social justice-oriented academic developmental editors with a minimum of 2 years professional experience developmentally editing academic books, journal articles, and/or book proposals in queer and trans studies, ethnic studies, critical race studies, cultural studies, performance studies, and/or media studies.

Ideas on Fire developmental editors are responsible for ensuring client manuscripts have strong and well-proven arguments and subclaims relevant to the authors’ academic fields, clear and logical manuscript structure that supports those arguments, a compelling narrative arc across the entire text, the right amount and type of engagement with contemporary scholarly sources and debates, and consistent authorial tone.

Further, our developmental editors ensure manuscripts fit well with US academic publishers’ lists and audiences as well as help authors publish interdisciplinary scholarship that builds new worlds.
