The Editor-in-Chief will have the unique opportunity to shape a prominent journal covering vibrant areas of heterogeneous catalysis, homogeneous catalysis and biocatalysis, and lead an editorial team according to his or her creative vision. As a respected member of the global research community, the Editor-in-Chief will create a high-impact journal grounded in a strong understanding of the needs of authors, readers, and reviewers from the different catalysis communities. S/he will be responsible for defining the aims, scope, and formats for the journal, building an impressive network of leading researchers working in relevant areas, recruiting exciting and world-leading fundamental and applied studies, and ensuring the quality and value of the journal as a forum for the best research, analysis and ideas.

The Editor-in-Chief will need to create and develop a broad, impactful, topical and cohesive journal that appeals to a wide community of contemporary international catalysis researchers.
The journal’s strong contribution to the field will complement the premium chemistry and energy journals from Cell Press, Chem and Joule, as well as the new Cell Press journals Matter (covering materials science) and One Earth (covering sustainability).

As a member of the editorial and scientific community, the Editor-in-Chief will also have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to bring/build an exceptional and wide network of international contacts. He/she will travel extensively to attend conferences and visit research institutions. The Editor-in-Chief will be expected to collaborate with internal colleagues in production, marketing and business development and to contribute to the overall publishing strategy of the Journal and Cell Press as a whole.

PhD required

This position will require extensive travel to scientific conferences and other networking events.

This is a full-time editorial position. We are open to candidates who would be located at the Cell Press headquarters in Cambridge, MA, USA or London, UK.
