Editor – Dragonsteel Entertainment

Pleasant Grove, UT

Dragonsteel Entertainment has an exciting opportunity for an Editor who will work on fiction titles by Brandon Sanderson as part of our Editorial Department! This is a local, full-time position with in-office flexibility in scheduling.

Reporting to the Head of the Editorial Department, the right candidate will have a love of fiction, particularly Brandon's published works and creative vision, complimented by a solid background in publishing. They will be joining Dragonsteel’s small editorial team, mostly working on low-level issues in back catalog titles. They will bring two or more years of professional editing experience to the role, especially strong line editing skills, and some experience with development editing of fiction texts of various lengths. Additionally, they will have demonstrable copyediting and proofreading skills, be able to work on projects independently, and know when to ask for help. Some books Dragonsteel publishes as the sole publisher, and some are in partnership with a New York publisher, so the Editor’s role will differ depending on what type of project it is. For some books, they will be hands-on in production including making corrections directly in Adobe InDesign. Also, at certain times of the year, a significant portion of the Editor’s time will be collating feedback from large numbers of beta readers, and selecting and summarizing the most important issues. In the future, they may have the opportunity to be the main editor on a maximum of one of the front list titles in a year, including high-level shepherding through each stage of publication.

This is not an acquisitions editor position.

To be considered, you must include the following:
- A list of projects you worked on along with details about your involvement.
- A line editing sample of fiction, sufficient to demonstrate your skill set.
