Digital Communications Coordinator – Harvard Medical School




Reporting to the Digital Product Manager in the HMS Office of Communications, the Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for coordinating internal and external email communications (newsletters, news clips roundups, executive communications, community announcements), publishing news content to the HMS website, and monitoring analytics for these channels to report on performance and inform appropriate adjustments to content strategy.
The Digital Communications Coordinator will be an integral part of the digital communications team, leveraging web content and email best practices to create and improve team standards and processes that support the work of the entire organization.
Specific responsibilities include:
¿ Coordinate with content owners in OCER and other departments across HMS to format and send a variety of email newsletters and communications using Acoustic (HMS’ email marketing tool)
¿ Establish, implement, and maintain processes, guidelines, and schedules to ensure email volume remains consistent and manageable and corresponds appropriately to the OCER editorial calendar
¿ Work directly with editorial team (writers and editors) and digital team (designers and strategists) to format and publish news stories and other content to the web using defined templates and styles
¿ Ensure consistency, accuracy, and excellence in email quality and web content publishing; document and enforce policies and best practices
¿ Executing A/B testing with guidance from the Digital Product Manager
¿ Ensure optimal use of Drupal content management system and Acoustic email marketing platform
¿ Work under the direction of the content strategy team to update and review content editorial calendar for web and email
¿ Working with Digital Strategist and editorial team to monitor and report on content performance to ensure continuous improvement
¿ Collaborate with designers on the development of new templates and styles to ensure consistency with brand guidelines
¿ Monitor relevant online conversation and review incoming email for website feedback and questions
