Copyediting, substantive editing and proofreading for the University of Washington's central Marketing & Communications dept. Using AP style and the UW's house style, edits materials for various audiences including students, prospective students, staff, faculty, donors and the public. Works within the Content team, reporting to the editorial lead, in the larger Creative team of writers, editors, designers, photographers, videographers, brand strategists and event producers.
Edits, proofreads and fact-checks a wide range of materials, including admissions recruitment, homepage feature stories, event materials, web content, strategic communications, donor stewardship, advertising and more. Works in a fast-paced, busy, collaborative environment. Requires at least two years' experience in professional editing, preferably with marketing and/or higher-education experience. Familiarity with AP style and working with a custom house style preferred. Must be familiar with using and staying current on inclusive language and equity in communications.
Full-time, in-house position. Primarily onsite, though occasional/partial telework is possible. Salary range $60,000–$65,000/year with excellent benefits.
