Content Development Editor – EBSCO Health


Ipswich or Boston, Massachusetts, or partially remote


The Content Development Editor reviews and edits content submitted by internal and external writers for new and existing nursing & allied health point of care and reference products. The Content Development Editor ensures content meets EBSCO Health’s quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Performs developmental editing and advanced copyediting for point of care nursing & allied health content, requiring varying degrees of critical analysis, problem-solving, and independent judgement to improve quality before online publication
- Ensures readability, clarity, flow and consistency of content
- Applies best practices for creating web content
- Ensures content adheres to house style guide and other style guides (e.g., AMA Manual of Style)
- Assists with content maintenance and updates
- Identifies and promotes more efficient methods and workflows for specific editorial efforts
- Communicates and collaborates professionally with clinical writers/editors, product managers and UI/UX teams as needed to address issues impacting content
- Provides content writer/editor ongoing education and support related to editorial policies, procedures and style guides
- Contributes to the development, implementation, documentation, and updating of editorial policies and procedures (including template structures and writing guidelines) that foster readability and consistency across content areas

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as English, Health Communications/Communications, Journalism, Education)
- 3+ years of experience with editing medical, nursing, or other healthcare-related content
- 3+ years of experience requiring excellent writing skills and critical thinking skills
- 3+ years of experience with MS Office Suite including Word (with use of track changes) and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

- Strong preference will be given to candidates with:
- - 5+ years of experience with editing health-related content
- - 5+ years of experience requiring excellent writing skills and critical thinking skills
- Experience editing/writing web-based content
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
