Children's Book Editor – Saddleback Educational Publishing




We are a small, family-owned educational publishing company dedicated to creating books and content for tweens and teens who struggle with reading. Our goal is to create content for every child in a variety of formats and levels, to ensure success. Creating engaging material at accessible levels starts with our content developers. We are looking to add an editor to this team. This is a remote, work-at-home position, and the hours are set. It is not a flexible work schedule as we work collaboratively.

Position Overview:

The editor’s primary responsibility is to edit, revise, and proofread all Saddleback products with a high level of accuracy during the pre-design and final-approval stages. The editor plays a critical role in ensuring that products are error-free and feature high-quality content that is written to specific standards. This person must have excellent editing skills but also excel at catching and reworking content issues. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines are key requirements of the position. Collaboration with other team members makes excellent communication skills a necessity.

Tasks would include:

Content editing
Writing and revising
Fact checking
Leveling text according to specifications
Other duties as assigned
Our requirements:

Positive attitude

Superior knowledge of grammar, punctuation, usage, and spelling
Demonstrated ability to write, proofread, and edit
Great organization skills; attention to detail
Responsible, reliable, and punctual with deadlines
Clear, prompt communication
Self-motivated team player
3+ years experience in professional editing
Bachelors Degree; preferably in English or Journalism
Our working hours: 7am to 4pm Monday through Thursday, 7am to 3:30pm Friday. Hours are PST/PDT. Company headquarters are in California. This is a remote, work-at-home position.
