Brand Managing Editor – Guerrero Media

Guerrero managing editors oversee the voice, editorial structure, content diversification, and development of our brands. A true editor and project manager, the managing editor balances the needs of key internal and external stakeholders—such as brand audience, featured executives, and sponsoring advertisers—and creates significant and impactful publications that maintain the caliber of work produced by Guerrero Media.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Dictates the editorial direction for brands across all platforms to drive audience growth and produce timely features initiated by sponsored content sales
• Collaborates with fellow editors, photo editors, and designers to project manage the print production of the magazines over the course of a month-plus press cycle
• Effectively formulates narrative angles from research and seller notes for client approval within five days of assignment creation
• Assigns features to staff or freelance writers and manages freelancer deadlines and drafts
• Edits each feature according to CMOS and in-house style guide with a “zero errors” mindset
• Sends draft to client and collaborates as needed to create a relevant article that receives prompt approval
• Ensures publication of online features within two weeks of fact-check approval and receipt of client photos
• Produces newsletter and social media campaigns as a means of amplifying a brand’s voice, attracting a larger audience, and promoting sponsored and nonsponsored content
• Expands digital reach of online content using SEM/SEO best practices (optimized key words, proper backlinks, etc)
• Meets company standards around proper time allocation for paid content and other marketing or media initiatives

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field
• At least 4 years of editorial experience at a publication
• A demonstrated ability to generate creative ideas in environment of aggressive growth
• Familiarity with CMOS
