Associate Publisher – Publish Your Gift®

Description:

The Associate Publisher is primarily responsible for overseeing the book publishing team and ensuring quality of service, accuracy, and timeliness are provided to our authors by monitoring project progression, completing weekly updates, and providing recommendations for improvements to management.

● Assist with screening, hiring, and onboarding new project managers and editorial applicants
● Train, manage, and support the project managers with daily project-related issues; advise on author escalations
● Manage and support production specialist
● Troubleshoot and brainstorm with Publisher on process changes and publication decisions
● Perform document quality-control checks for book production files, promptly communicating errors in documents and coordinating issue resolution
● Review and approve author revision requests for all promotional copy and manuscript changes
● Ensure book cover and interior file proofs are free of typographical and formatting errors
● Ensure promotional materials are free of typographical and formatting errors (bio, blurb, bookmarks, landing page, swipe copy)
● Perform document quality-control checks for book production files, promptly communicating errors in documents and coordinating issue resolution

Qualifications
● 3+ years of editorial, writing, and team management experience (or combined experience)
● Have working knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style
● Clear, effective, and engaging communication and presentation skills
● Strong organizational skills and accurate attention to visual and textual details
● Strategic and lateral thinker; able to plan, prioritize and make decisions
● Must be flexible, diplomatic, ambitious, responsive, and results oriented
● Proactive in troubleshooting and solving problems
● Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
● Ability to prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with a sense of urgency
