CNA is searching for an Associate Editor. Formal duties include editing formal research reports and other documents (such as proposals, correspondence, presentations, and web content) to ensure overall clarity, conciseness, logic, and correctness.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience editing research or technical material in a professional or academic environment required.
Must have a strong command of grammatical and stylistic issues in formal research documents, strong copy editing skills that show independent judgment, extreme attention to detail, flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines, strong time-management skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills. Qualified applicants will have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and limited direction, the ability to work collaboratively and gain cooperation of others, and the ability to synthesize and summarize longer works.
Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style conventions is required. Proficiency with editing features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro required; proficiency with advanced features of Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat Pro strongly preferred.
Proficiency in one or more of the following required: Microsoft Excel, Adobe InDesign or InCopy, or Microsoft SharePoint. Knowledge of publications design (print and digital) strongly preferred. Must be able to work with highly technical, quantitative data and understand complex, analytical research material.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance. Active Secret Security Clearance upon hire preferred.
