Chapel Hill, NC (or remote)
technical, research, nonfiction, epidemiology, public health, global health
As a certified copyeditor (March 2019) with 15 years of research, survey, laboratory and fieldwork experience, I have established a solid reputation for organizing information and helping others to understand the value of that information.
With knowledge of scientific concepts, research methods and epidemiologic principles, I am able to decipher statistics and quickly digest technical papers. I edit for grammar, punctuation, word choice, formatting and consistency while applying a keen eye to intellectual rigor, organization and readability—focusing on every detail while addressing big-picture issues.
I have a robust portfolio (over 50 scientific articles, reports, fact sheets, user guides and training materials) that demonstrates an ability to communicate across a range of platforms to technical and general audiences. Before moving to Chapel Hill, I lived in New York, Geneva and Atlanta, working in-person and remotely with diverse, interdisciplinary teams. Many of my projects have had a global or environmental public health focus and were developed in collaboration with experts at governmental agencies, multilateral agencies and nongovernmental organizations. I have a master of public health in epidemiology from the University of Michigan. But learning about a vast array of science and health topics is part of what makes editing challenging and exciting!
