Fiction (specializes in literary, speculative, fabulist, magical realism, and science fiction), poetry, grant writing, proposal editing, book coaching, and plot development.
Hi there! My name is Kimberly Schebler, and I’m an experienced editor who provides authors with developmental editing and copyediting services. I support writers at every stage of their work—sometimes that involves resolving issues at the macro level, polishing prose to enhance its grammar and flow, or drafting engaging pitch letters to agents. Literary, fabulist, and speculative fiction manuscripts are my favorite to work with, but I love helping any piece of writing reach its full potential. My editing style embraces bending rules to preserve an author’s voice while always remembering our common client, the reader.
I’m also a grant writer and the editor of online literary magazine, Bone Parade. I’m well versed in the Chicago Manual of Style and The Associated Press Stylebook, and an active member of the Editorial Freelancers Association, ACES: The Society for Editing, and the Freelancers Union. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in creative writing from SUNY New Paltz, received a Certificate in Editing from The Poynter Institute, and continually update my skills by attending classes and webinars taught by leaders in my industry. Outside of editing, I’m a small-time adventurer, avid reader, music enthusiast, and amateur science nerd living in New York.
