Description:

Your manuscript needs a copyeditor to check the basics—consistency, coherence, and cohesion. Or maybe your novel needs a critical reader to help tighten up the storyline, aid in character development, or energize the dialog. Whether you have a novel, a short story, or a biography, I will bring tempered judgment and a strong desire to maintain your vision and voice, all while meeting the needs of the work.

I edit fiction, nonfiction, articles, and essays. Though I enjoy reading and editing just about anything, I am partial to academic nonfiction, speculative fiction (especially dystopian fiction), mysteries, suspense, and poetry. As your editor, I also ensure your writing follows the conventions of the required style guide (Chicago, MLA, APA, or the prescribed publishing house style).

I worked extensively with EFL writers for over twenty-five years as a college-prep school teacher in Osaka, Japan. During that time, I wrote five in-house textbooks, including two on composition. If you are a writer whose native language is not English, your writing is in good hands. For writers specifically in Japan or writers working with Japanese companies, I do Japanese to English translations of short compositions: announcements, notices, memos, letters, and business emails.

I look forward to hearing from you.
