For over twenty-five years, I have been involved in writing and editing. Most of my professional work has been as an ESL instructor at a college-prep school in Osaka, Japan, working with high school graduates and teaching the fundamentals of academic reading and writing. Along the way, I have edited paragraphs, essays, and professional research papers, among other things. My own educational background is mixed. I am certified as a copyeditor through UC Berkeley Extension, but my degree is in German, with a focus on literature. Before that, I had taken classes geared toward becoming a physics major.
I have a lifelong love of both science and literature. The writings of science popularizers such as Stephen Jay Gould, Carl Sagan, and Simon Singh have inspired me throughout my life, and I hope someday to get the opportunity to collaborate with science writers on similar works.
