A lifetime learner and communicator, I just launched my freelance business after completing the copyediting certificate program through UC San Diego Extension. My background includes a B.A. in English from UC Berkeley, fives years editing environmental science websites for the University of California, and six years overseas editing conference materials for a Tokyo-based, mental health nonprofit. Since 2016, I've been an editor with the Japan Harvest magazine, a faith-based nonprofit print publication. Becoming a published copy editor in July 2020, I loved working with my client in traditional book publishing, seeing the stages from beginning to end. I'm a seasoned listener and presenter, ready to tackle tough subjects but with a drive to always find beauty and hope. My love of gardening, nature, faith and God, music, guitar, and piano brings balance to the time I spend in front of words on a computer screen. As a woman of faith in the AAPI community, with conversational skills in Mandarin and basic Japanese as well as experience living overseas, I have sensitivity for US-based and Asia-based readers.
