Introducing The ACES Academy

Introducing The ACES Academy

August 3, 2020 By ACES Staff Resources

ACES: The Society for Editing is excited to announce the launch of The ACES Academy. The ACES Academy offers training for editors through webcasts, videos, and on-demand courses in a dynamic digital platform.

Editors can access a suite of training materials that includes webcasts, on-demand courses, quizzes and in-depth virtual training sessions.

“We are excited to make our training more accessible and interactive through ACES Academy,” said Teresa Schmedding, chair of ACES’ training committee. “Our members need training that is changing as fast as the world around us. ACES Academy enables us to help editors polish and expand their skills to meet the ever changing demands of our profession.”

Phase 1 of the Academy is now open to all members.

“In Phase 2, the training committee is going to focus on stitching our training together so we can provide basic and advanced certificate programs,” Schmedding said.

The Academy and its courses are the vision and result of hard work by volunteer members of the training committee: Merrill Perlman, Sue Burzynski Bullard, Tara Puckey and Schmedding.

All webcasts, including those from our ACES 2020 virtual conference, are free for members.

ACES wouldn’t be able to provide the training to its members without the countless trainers who have generously provided their knowledge and expertise.

“Affordable, high-quality training for editors is the core of our mission. The Academy allows us to expand that commitment by reaching our members wherever they are,” Schmedding said.
