Running for board seat at-large
About your work: Independent Contractor. Project Manager. Client Liaison. Marketer. Social Media Manager. Vendor Management. Content Editor. Copy Editor. Proofreader. Writer.
How you have contributed to ACES: Up to now, my contributions have been only monetary (paying dues). However, in 2020, I will be a first-time presenter at the national conference.
Why you feel you are the best candidate for this position: One of the positive aspects I can bring to the committee is my geographic location. The current executive committee consists of members from the Midwest, Northeast and the West. I am a native Southerner (Georgia and North Carolina) whose perspective and experience might be an asset to the committee.
What you envision for ACES during your tenure: I'd like to see more on-site training sessions, such as the editing bootcamps, held in different parts of the country. I'd also like the Editors-for-Hire section of the website to be restricted to members. Several scammers have contacted me about bogus jobs because of my inclusion in the list.
What is one thing about ACES that you would like to improve, and what ideas do you have on how to improve it?
