ACES 2024 San Diego: Unleashing Creativity offers more than 40 sessions covering a wide range of editing topics that fall into four categories: Words and Language, Core Skills, Business of Editing, and Panel Discussions, which may relate to any of the topic areas across any industry within the editing community. Sessions are geared toward beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels.

Peer Connection Coffee Chats
The Peer Connection Coffee Chats offer the chance to gather with a small group of peers within a specialty area to discuss a specific professional topic. Groups will be in tables of 10 — seating is limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $25 per person and advance registration is required at the time of conference registration. Coffee Chat registration is non-refundable and non-transferable.
ACES Education Fund Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee, an annual fundraiser hosted by the ACES Education Fund, is one of the most anticipated ACES events of the year. Watch — or join — some of the country's top editors compete for laughs, bragging rights, and that most elusive honor, the ACES Spelling Bee crown. Participants must register for the conference. The cost to participate is $30 and is limited to the first 14 to sign up. Audience members are an integral part of the Spelling Bee. Tickets to watch are $20. All fees go directly to the ACES Education Fund, which supports the future of editing through its scholarship programs. Tickets are available for purchase during the registration process.
Silent Auction
The conference also features the annual Silent Auction, hosted by the ACES Education Fund, where attendees have a chance to bid on a wide variety of editing, language, and book-related items. Autographed books, T-shirts, coffee mugs, and handmade quilts are just a few of the items typically on display that you never knew you needed and now you can't live without. Top bid at 7 p.m. on Friday night takes the prize home. All proceeds go to support the future of editing.

ACES' annual conference connects editors, communication professionals, and language experts from around the globe who share a common goal: to improve the quality of the written word and the working lives of editors. ACES 2024 San Diego Unleashing Creativity is designed to guide attendees in learning new ways to communicate their value as an editor, collaborate with peers, exercise their expertise, and invest in their professional development.
What's included
Participants receive entrance to each day's sessions based on the length of their attendance, as reflected on their name badge. Three-day registrants will also receive entrance to Thursday evening's reception and Friday evening's banquet until space reaches capacity (the form will indicate when spaces are full). Session resources will be available on Whova, the conference app, for up to 60 days after the conclusion of the conference.
What's not included
The registration fee covers only the conference. It does not include hotel, airfare or travel expenses, parking, or food outside of planned catered functions.
